Yay, Daddy!!!!

We took a walk around the neighborhood last night with the stroller and dog in tow. For the most part Annie behaved herself while Drew walked her and I pushed the stroller. Her biggest issue with the walk was the stroller and why Bug was in it. If she looked at him once she looked at him a dozen times and heaven forbid when she stopped to use the mailboxes and we kept walking . Then it was a dead out run to try and catch up with me, like we were going to get too far from her. Anyway, they both seemed to enjoy themselves and Alex was bright eyed and bushy tailed the whole time. He's a nosy little bugger but he gets it honestly, frome me that is.

Later, Drew was a champ and gave me the night off!!. I had a solid nights rest with only minor interruptions. It was glorious! He took the day off and this morning I snuck out and managed to get a manicure/pedicure, and at this very moment we're waiting for Little Man to wake up so that we can go grab some lunch.

It's a great start to what will hopefully be a great weekend.

Blow Out!!!!

Since last night we have had two major blowouts. What's a blowout you might ask? Well, a blowout is a term that my brother and his wife use to describe a diaper that is incapable of holding a number two type situation. Poop, if you will.

Last night was the first blowout. It was so bad, in fact, that it took two of us to get Bug undressed and there weren't enough diaper wipes to make all that mess go away. It was so bad in fact, that the poor little guy had it down his thigh and halfway up his back. Bath time is the part of the evening where we start to relax and unwind but not last night, it was fast and furious!
Last night, shortly after the first "blowout". As you can see Alex has a bit of a Fat Elvis Concert thing working, that's from the frantic bathwashing he had just encountered.

This afternoon was the second diaper fiasco. This diaper change wasn't half as bad as the one last night but it was by far the funniest thing I have witnessed in a while. Why? Because Drew was attempting the diaper change. Drew + A BIG Dirty Diaper = Some funny, funny stuff!

I won't go too deep into the details, we've all been there done that BUT I will share with you the quote of the day from Drew. "I have poop under my fingernails!"
The look on his face the whole time his Dad was overreeacting from the diaper. Needless to say I think Alex managed to scare his Dad into not coming home for lunch for quite some time.

Bug Update

Yesterday, the Dr. informed us, that unfortunately, Little Man has a bit of a cold and their isn't a whole lot that we can do about it. Well, no more than we already are and it worked! Today has been a total change around, he is back to a happy and smiling baby. However, last night was a little sketchy and he had some projectile vomiting, congestion grossness and in general yuckiness. Needless to say that wasn't alot of fun but the good thing is, it's over with now.

The comical side of this is that a 6 week old can shake two educated adults and otherwise rational/ logical thinking people to their knees. Following is an excerpt from last nights conversation moments after Bug got sick all over himself, all over me, his blankie, my throw, the office couch and the carpet.

Me: "Oh My God!"
Drew: "What?"
Me: "Oh My God!"
Drew: Turns around "Oh My God!"
Me: "Oh My God! It's everywhere"
Drew: "What should we do?"
Me: "I don't know!!!!"

At that point we regained our senses and started moving but for the first few seconds it was similar to right after a car accident. You are just so stunned you can't move. Needless to say the whole time we are having this elementary conversation the baby is crying because he scared the ever living daylights out of himself, poor guy. It took us some time but we managed to get it all cleaned up and somehow got him calmed down again.

Keep your fingers crossed that the three of us get some much needed sleep tonight and Bug, more importantly, is vomit free and feeling better.

P.S.
As of yesterday Bug weighs 11lbs 11oz. The boy does not miss a meal..... EVER!!!!

Memorial Day 2009

As I mentioned earlier Glen and Nancy came down to visit this past weekend. As usual we all had a great time, even with the smallest member of the family out of commission we were still rather busy.

Friday, we went next door to our good friends, John and Jaynes for a BBQ. Saturday, Nancy and I went shopping while the Weckman men stayed at the house and hung out. Sunday we made a trek down to Midtown and enjoyed some good food, good cocktails and great weather at the Celtic Crossing. Monday, Drew and Glen worked in the yard and Glen made my sorry excuse for a flower bed something to be proud of. Thanks! Monday night Drew and I were able to sneak out of the house,we went out to dinner and then met our good friend Tom up at the local watering hole for a night cap. It was great being able to get out of the house without a stroller, a baby bag and a baby for a while. But, it was even better getting home and seeing my little guy.

Below are some of the pics that I remembered to take this weekend. I am usually so good about taking pictures but totally spaced this weekend. Thank goodness we are going home in two weeks. I can make up for it then.

Welcome to the Family, Taylor!

This past Sunday my cousin Mike and his wife Hillary gave birth to their second child, Taylor Lynn at 4:23 p.m. Taylor weighed 6lbs 15oz and is 20 1/2" long.

Congratulations to Mike and Hillary. Tatum, you are going to be a great big sister and Taylor we can't wait to meet you!

Here's to another member of the Cook clan....

First Time Mommy

First and foremost this past weekend GranNan and PopPop came to visit the little guy and everybody had a great time that is until last night. It seems that Alex has some serious congestion working and since last night it has taken a turn for the worse. This afternoon we are off to see his Dr. for the third time in 6 1/2 weeks. I called their office last Wednesday and explained his symptoms, the nurse informed me that it was very common and to sit in the bathroom with him and let the steam from a hot shower work through his system, use the aspirator on his nose when needed and it should clear up. Well, it did. For a while. Now it is back with a vengeance and I am worried to death.

Besides the congestion we all had a great time this past weekend, especially Bug. All that attention and love can't be a bad thing.... especially from Grandparents. I have pics and will post them as soon as I get the chance.

Move Over Annie Liebowitz

Last night was a good night and Alex and I have quite a bit of energy. Rather than using that energy to clean the house or do laundry I decided to put it to use for yet another modeling session. I must say this one was much more "productive", if you will.

Please note the uber-artistic use of black and white vs color. Ooh, and let's not forget about the model. When you're working with such cuteness it's hard not to get a good picture or say, oh I don't know, 54 good pictures....

Very Busy Sunday

This morning Uncle Cal and Aunt Jazzy stopped by to visit their favorite nephew, Alex. Everyone seemed to have a great time and Alex really enjoyed all of his goodies.

I love the look that Alex is giving his Uncle Cal.... it will be a look he will give him often throughout life. "What you talkin' bout Uncle Cal??"

Group shot of some good looking people

Alex and Aunt Jazzy hangin' out and enjoyin' each others company.

Saturday morning before 2009 Project began....

Sunday afternoon late, phase one almost complete. It probably would have moved a lot faster for the tree trimmers if I would not have demanded so many snapshots of the whole process.
Alex was not a happy camper for this pic. The sun is shining right in his eyes but I couldn't resist getting a few shots for his "babysite". Like yesterday he slept through the better part of this project and for that matter so did Annie, see below.

Annie watching diligently as strangers gallivant through her yard. Great guard dog.

Jamie (the tree guy) figures this bad boy was over a hundred years old. I personally figured on about fifty... I'd go with his estimate over mine.

They took it down with a truck and the stump grinder.

You could smell the wood burning.

2009 Project - Our Sideyard

Our side yard is in dire need of some landscaping and to start the process we are having these two trees removed. After this we are leveling out that area, resodding, laying decorative stone and planting trees, shrubs and other miscellaneous plants. To finish it off we are adding a gate(for the dog and the kid) and a cupola over the stone patio area. When we are finished it's gonna look great but we have to start somewhere! Here's to another Saturday "demo day" at the Weckmans.

Jamie about 20 feet from the ground acting like a monkey and making me very nervous

Jamie about 30 feet from the ground.

Alex throughout the better part of the day as two chainsaws hacked away at our maple not half a yard away from him. This kid can sleep through anything.

Crazy Eye

Due to popular demand I have removed my personal pic on the left hand side of the blog site. Why, you might ask? Well, according to my hubby and best friend I have crazy eye working in that pic and I look like a psychotic that has escaped the loony bin.

Anyway, there is a new one up and I better not get any gaffe about that one.... Kristen, this means you.

Just a-Swingin'

I had completely forgotten about the swing that we had bought for Alex.... blame it on the sleep deprivation. Anyway, I got it out today and set it up for the little man and I think that the magic vibrating chair has some serious competition. He absolutely loves it! I got smart and put the swing next to an open window so that not only could he look outside but also enjoy the nice breeze. He was asleep in moments. I'm a genius I tell ya, a genius!

We can totally go to the Zoo, the Children's Museum, the Pink Palace and if there is enough time maybe even catch a Redbirds game. I already have my Cards onsie so I'm ready to go when you are! I will have my peeps call yours and they can work out the details.... by peeps I mean I'll have my Mommy call yours.

Later Dudes,

Alex

Happy Mother's Day

There are times when only a Mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a Mother's love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we've dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a Mother's faith
Can help us on life's way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a Mother's heart and a Mother's faith
And a Mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned by the Angels
And sent from God above...

Hoping that every Mother had a very special day, today....

Friday Night Happy Hour

We got crazy last night! Alex was bright eyed and bushy tailed while I cooked dinner last night and then hung out with his bestie Annie. It's a rough life I tell ya, rough!

Annie is not at all amused by the magical vibrating chair. When we put Alex in it she gets rather upset and licks the top of his head. Not sure why but nonetheless it's entertaining and Alex doesn't seem to mind.

After putting him up on the table that upset her too and she laid down right next to it and just stared at him. Again, not sure why but still entertaining.

Vroom Vroom

Today, Alex and I took a stroll around the neighborhood so that he could get the lay of the land, so to speak. Here are a few shots from our little adventure.

Before the walk, you can see the excitement in his eyes, he can barely contain himself.

Alex kicking back in his new ride

Alex thinking maybe he should have brought those sunglasses.

After the walk, exhausted and happy!
